How Standing in Love Changes Everything

For the past two years, I've been reciting a short prayer during meditation or while walking in the woods. In it, I ask for guidance to help me stand in love—to stand in love with the thoughts I think, the words I speak, and the actions I take.

I began this prayer because I wanted to see more love in the world—more kindness, more compassion, more joy. And I've long believed that if you want to see something in the world, you must first be it.

So if you want to see more love, light, and joy, then you need to be the love, the light, the joy.

That idea has become a personal mantra:
I am love. I am light. I am joy.

What I didn't expect when I began this practice was just how transformative it would be.

When you consciously stand in a place of love, something beautiful begins to happen. You become less critical—of others and of yourself.

Judgment starts to fade, and as it does, you begin to believe more is possible for your life.

And as that belief grows, you start trusting the wisdom that arises from within. That trust builds confidence, and with confidence, you're able to step more fully into who you truly are.

And there's more.

When you stand in love, you naturally become more content with life. This doesn't mean you lose ambition or stop striving—it means your ambition shifts.

What you desire becomes more aligned with your authentic self. And that self is—at the deepest level—Love. Light. Joy.

This simple prayer, this mantra, is really an invitation to remember who you are.

And how your love, light, and joy shows up in the world, how you choose to express it, is uniquely yours.

So, if you want to see more love, kindness, and compassion in the world…
If you want to experience more joy and ease in your life…
If you want to feel a deeper sense of purpose…

Then I encourage you to reflect, pray, or meditate on this:
What does it mean to you to stand in love?

And how can you be the love today?

What's helped me—beyond the prayer and the mantra—is simply becoming more aware. I pay attention to my thoughts, the words I use, how I speak about others and myself, and the actions I take.

Start by noticing.

Notice when you silently judge or criticize.
Notice when you complain or gossip.
Notice the language you use—especially when speaking about yourself.

And when you catch yourself drifting from love, pause. Breathe. Pivot.

You can even say aloud, “Let me take that back,” and rephrase your thought or words with more love.

When something upsets you, pause and ask:
“How would Love respond?”

As someone raised in the Christian faith, I often ask, “How would Jesus respond?” But you can choose a person, past or present, who you feel embodies love. Tune into their energy. Let it guide you in making choices that are kinder, wiser, and more compassionate.

This is a practice. It takes time. But the more you commit to standing in love—in your thoughts, your words, your actions—the more your life will begin to shift in a gentle and beautiful way.

You become the Love. The Light. The Joy.

And those qualities ripple outward, touching everyone around you.

This is how we change the world.

By Being the Love.

Sending this to you with love, and deep gratitude,
Anita
